    Andrea McKinney

    Vice President, Wealth Strategist

    Central Trust & Investment Company

It has been an absolute honor and a privilege to serve as the chair for the 2011-2012 Go Red for Women Campaign. The heart health of women is so important to our community, and I want to encourage the women in this room to take an active role in their health…to take it personally…and to “Love Their Heart.”

Central Trust & Investment Company and its leadership were glad to commit resources to raise awareness throughout Southwest Missouri of this fact: heart disease is the number one health threat for women. Heart attacks kill six times as many women as breast cancer. That’s a whopping 267,000 women dying of heart attacks each and every year. Under age 50, women’s heart attacks are twice as likely to be fatal as men’s. That’s the bad news.

But, here’s the good news: there are simple, practical steps we can take today to significantly reduce our long-term risks. Becoming more active, eating heart-healthy foods, kicking the smoking habit and lowering our blood pressure are just a few examples of how we can lower our risk of a heart attack. We need to rally together to help drastically decrease the number of fatal heart attacks in women, and I am proud to have been a part of this exceptional campaign to reach that goal.

I encourage every woman to team up with at least one other woman – a close friend, a family member or a co-worker to work on this goal together so you can have an accountability partner in your quest for a healthier life.

At Central Trust, an important part of our mission is to enhance the lives of women by providing education and resources that extend beyond financial advice to “matters of the heart” – helping women achieve a longer and healthier life by empowering them with knowledge.

Thank you for attending the luncheon and making heart health important to you and your family.

    Message From Nancy Brown

    for position only

    Dear Friends,

Welcome to the Springfield, MO Go Red For Women Luncheon!   We’re delighted you are here and appreciate your interest in learning how you can advance health, stop heart disease and save women’s lives. That’s what the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women® movement is all about.

Heart disease isn’t just a man’s problem. It’s a woman’s problem, too. In fact, it’s the No. 1 killer of women. And, tragically, far too few women realize their risk from this preventable disease. We need to raise women’s awareness of their risk and protect our mothers, daughters, sisters, friends and ourselves.

You can help, starting today. Here’s how:

First, take charge of your own heart health. Visit your doctor. Know your numbers (learn more at www.GoRedForWomen.org). You can improve your blood pressure, cholesterol and other numbers by making lifestyle changes. You’ll be healthier and look and feel better, too.

Second, join the American Heart Association in making it your mission to fight heart disease in women. Help spread the word that heart disease is women’s No. 1 killer. Share what you learn today with your family and members of your community. Tell five women you want them to live and we can help stop heart disease in our lifetime.

Third and last, consider making a contribution. Your donation today will make a difference in the lives of women here and across the country. You can help fund local and national Go Red activities that support awareness, research, education and community programs that benefit women.

Thank you again for being here. My hope is that you won’t leave today without committing to making a difference by joining the Go Red For Women movement — women everywhere need your help. Only one in five women believes that heart disease is her greatest health threat. We believe reducing risk and preventing heart disease starts with education — and you. There’s so much to do, and so much at stake.

With your commitment, we can help women and their families live longer, stronger lives. Thank you for your generous support.

    Warm regards,

    Nancy Brown
